George W. Bush Childhood Home, Inc.
With the purchase by the Permian Basin Board of Realtors of the most noteworthy home of the President’s childhood, a nonprofit organization was established to develop and manage the Bush Childhood Home in it original location as a Presidential Site. The George W. Bush Childhood Home, Inc. is lead by its Board of Directors:

Rhotenberry
Wellen Architects (RWA) was founded in 1988 when James R. Rhotenberry,
Jr., AIA, and Mark T. Wellen, AIA, merged their practices. The principals
have a combined total of over 50 years experience designing and
managing
a broad range of institutional, commercial and residential projects
ranging in cost from less than $100,000 to over $20,000,000. Projects
have been built in Texas, New Mexico, California, Colorado, and Maine.
RWA maintains a strong commitment to a highly
personalized form of practice which allows the principals to remain
directly involved with projects from inception to completion. Consequently,
the firm has remained small, allowing its principals to provide
a hands on style of project management which consistently results
in quality projects and satisfied clients. RWA’s commitment
to a philosophy of high quality design has garnered them numerous
design
awards and extensive coverage in local, state and national publications.
TBG
Founded in 1987, TBG Partners is one of Texas’ most respected landscape architecture and planning firms. Originally known as The Broussard Group, the company has offices in Austin, Dallas, and Houston. TBG’s commissions include such notable projects as the Texas State Capitol, Laguna Gloria, and designers of the Texas Star at the Bob Bullock State History Museum; TBG provides a wealth of experience and versatile range of award-winning capabilities. TBG is currently working on other historic restorations and interpretations such as San Jacinto Battleground State Historical Park and the Levi Jordan Plantation.
Herndon,
Stauch & Associates, based in Austin, Texas, and specializes
in Project Management and Construction Management. The firm was
incorporated
in August 1995 when
the
principals completed their leadership roles in the $190,000,000
Texas Capitol
Preservation and Extension Project. Principals Dealey Herndon and
David Stauch have managed projects valued in excess of $600,000,000.
The Herndon, Stauch & Associates staff is comprised of construction
specialists with extensive experience in the construction industry.
The firm is experienced in historic preservation, construction management,
contract administration, planning, project controls, design management,
cost estimating, scheduling, quality control and construction claims
analysis. This expertise has been utilized on a broad range of
projects,
including museums, educational facilities, office buildings, correctional
facilities, courthouses, and historic preservation projects. Senior
Project Manager Peter Hayes and Principal Dealey Herndon are managing
the Bush Childhood Home Project. Carrie Pauska, Dan Fancher, and
preservation
specialist Lynn Smith participate in specialized roles.
Studio Portico
A Division of Villa Texas, Inc.
Based
in Austin and Fredericksburg, Texas, Studio Portico is the historic
preservation
consulting division of Villa Texas, Inc., a residential design and
interiors consulting firm created by Darlene Marwitz, Associate,
AIA. Marwitz’ passion for old buildings primarily grew during
her graduate years at The University of Texas at Austin where she
received
two degrees, a Master of Science in Architectural Studies and a Master
of Architecture.
Studio Portico is noted for its commitment
to meticulous detail and authenticity in historical research and
in the execution of designs for period and period-compatible interiors.
Maintaining high ethical and professional standards in the preservation
and museum fields is paramount for this firm.
In addition to providing in-depth historical
research and documentation for historical properties, Studio Portico’s
expertise lies in comprehensive furnishings and finishes consulting,
from antiques and documentary reproductions to period-appropriate
selections for furnishings and finishes.
Prior to private practice, Marwitz worked
for five years on the Texas State Capitol Interior and Exterior Restoration
Project as Furnishings Project Manager and Historian. Her participation
(1989-1995) in the Texas Capitol preservation and restoration reinforced
not only her love of Texas architecture, but also her predilection
for the Italian Renaissance. Marwitz’ residential work focuses
on adaptive reuse and Mediterranean-inspired designs, creative collaborations
with clients that create sense of place.
Research assistance and project record management
for Studio Portico is provided by Ali Turley, a museum specialist
with a Master of Historical Administration and Museum Studies degree
from the University of Kansas.
