“George W. Bush Childhood Home, Inc. receives $4,000 grant”
Midland – Efforts
to refurbish the Midland childhood home of President George W. Bush
have received a $4,000 boost from the Texas
Historical Commission. George W. Bush Childhood Home, Inc. was one
of 31 applicants to receive funding from the Texas Preservation Trust
Fund. The $4,00 is to reimburse George W. Bush Childhood Home Inc.
for any costs incurred in creating plans to restyle the home to the
appearance it had between 1951 and 1955. It was during those years
that Bush lived there, said Bill Scott, board chairman of George
W. Bush Childhood Home Inc.
“The home, which is about 60- to 61- years-old, is in fairly
good condition,” Scott said. “The hardware is still original.
But it’s going to take quite a project to restore it to the
same condition that it was in 1951 to 1955.”
