“ Group Plans to Renovate, Open Bush Home”

Midland-Plans to restore the childhood home of President George W. Bush are now taking shape. A group of realtors is raising money to renovate the Midland home at 1412 W. Ohio St., where George W. Bush and his family lived for several years in the 1950’s.

“ The House is in very good condition and has many, many original features, “ [Bill] Scott said. “We will make changes to the exterior to restore the home to the way it looked when the Bushes lived there. The Permian Basin Board of Realtors purchased the Bush home in April, said SuJo McKee, marketing manager for the Midland Convention and Visitors Bureau.”

But Scott said that since the Bush family lived there, “The home is priceless.” Scott said Houston Hill built the home in 1939 for Mildred Etheridge at a cost of $4,590. He said ownership of the home change hands three times before George H. W. Bush bought the home for $9,000 on Nov. 7, 1951.
